National City, San Diego County
National City, incorporated in 1887, is the second-oldest city in San Diego County. Frank Kimball and his brothers bought the old Rancho de la Nacion in 1868 and brought the Santa Fe railroad to their new town; the depot of 1882 survives as a museum. Brick Row, ten attached brick houses built in 1887 for railroad executives, still stands on A Avenue.
